What Are Recovery Boots and How Do They Speed Up Your Recovery?

Recovery Boots are modern compression boots designed to specifically support the recovery of the lower extremities. They work using a proven principle of intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC), a method that has been used for many years in therapy, rehabilitation, and sports medicine. The boots consist of multiple air chambers that inflate and deflate rhythmically and sequentially from the feet toward the torso. This wave-like compression mimics the body's natural muscle pump in the legs, supporting key physiological transport processes within the tissue. The goal: to relieve tissue stress, reduce swelling, and promote faster recovery after physical exertion.

Scientifically Proven: How Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (IPC) Works

The effects of IPC are primarily based on the activation of the lymphatic system. Intermittent external pressure supports the removal of interstitial fluid as well as metabolic byproducts that accumulate in the tissue. Especially after intense physical activity, increased fluid retention in the tissue can occur, leading to swelling, feelings of thightness, and faster fatigue. Rythmic compression stimulates lymphatic flow, relieves surrounding tissues, and can contribute to a faster normalization of tissue conditions. In addition, venous return is supported, which has a positive effect on overall circulation. By mechanically assisting the body's natural transport and regulatory systems, subjective recovery can improve and recovery time between training sessions may be reduced. Standard Mode

Mode 1 – Regeneration

Standard Mode for Optimal Recovery

The standard mode is the classic recovery program of the K-Active Recovery Boots. The air chambers inflate sequentially from bottom to top. Only once the top chamber is reached do the boots fully deflate. This smooth, even pressure progression supports the removal of accumulated fluid and metabolic byproducts such as lactate, making it ideal after intense exortion or long training sessions.

Mode 2 – Regeneration & Activation

Pulsing Mode to Promote Circulation

In recovery and activation mode, the lowest chamber first pulses four times before the pressure is held. The remaining chambers then follow one after another. As soon as the top chamber begins to inflate, the first chamber deflates. Afterwards, all chambers deflate simultaneously. This program is particularly effective at promoting circulation and is ideal for both activation before training and for accelerated recovery afterward.

Mode 3 – Combination Mode

Versatile Massage Effect

Combination Mode brings together the benefits of Mode 1 and Mode 2. First, several chambers inflate sequentially while others deflate with a slight delay. This is followed by alternating sequential and simultaneous inflations, before all chambers deflate and the cycle begins again. This varied pressure pattern creates an intense, versatile massage effect, making this mode especially flexible. Ideal for switching between activation and recovery depending on you needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About the K-Active® Recovery Boots

1. Download the Beoka app and install it on your smartphone or tablet. Make sure the batteries are fully charged.

2. Now open the app and select the Recovery Boots (Air Comperssion Massager ACM-A1). Activate the Bluetooth function on your device.
3. Follow the instructions in the app to connect the legs to the app.
4. Then select the desired massage mode. Adjust settings such as intensity and duration as needed. Choose between 20, 30, 45 and 60 minutes.
5. Start the treatment by clicking on the appropriate button (slider) in the app.
6. Monitor the treatment progress with the app and stop the process if necessary via the one-button pressure relief valve on the side of the control unit After expiration of the preset duration, the compression massage stops on its own.

You can easily switch the different massage modes via the corresponding app. To do so, simply press the desired modes button.

The recommended length of time to wear compression boots depends on various factors, such as your individual training volume, your recovery needs and your physical condition. If you are just starting the application, then we recommend a 20- to 30-minute application. It is important that you pay attention to the signals of your body and adjust the wearing time accordingly. Over time, you can also gradually increase the duration. Longer wear (30 to 60 minutes) of the boots at medium to high intensity has the benefits of promoting blood circulation, muscle relaxation, faster muscle regeneration (lower lactate concentration) and stress reduction.

With only 1. 25 kg per leg unit, the lightweight compression boots impress. Their portable design and practical bag allow you to take the boots wherever you go – to the office, on the sports field or on the road. The leg cuffs are easy to roll up and store in the storage bag. The light weight also ensures that you are not unnecessarily strained during use.

The compression boots are equipped with replaceable batteries of a comfortable size and have a battery life of up to 2 hours. Once the battery is empty, remove it from the leg cuff and replace it with a freshly charged battery. You can also replace the batteries during the program. Just pause the program for a short time.


The charging time of the individual batteries is 1. 5 h. They are removable with one click, easy to charge and can be replaced with a replacement battery for extended use. To charge a battery, simply connect it to the included charging cable and connect it to a power source. The long battery life and short charging times allow for longer regeneration units, in which the batteries can be quickly recharged in between and made ready for the next use.

The delivery of the K-Active® Recovery Boots 3. 0 includes two leg cuffs with integrated control unit. In addition, two TYPE-C charging cables for charging the batteries, 4 rechargeable batteries, a charger and an operating manual are included. For convenient transport of your compression boots, you get a luxurious storage bag with two storage bags in a handy size.

Yes. A high degree of safety is provided via the one-button pressure relief valve on the side of the control unit. At the touch of a button, you can release the pressure at any time. That way, you're always in control. Use the on/off slider to customize the comfort and intensity of the massage. For example, if you want to reduce the pressure or the pressure becomes too strong, you can press the valve to release the pressure immediately. This feature offers you safety and comfort when using the compression boots.

The use of Recovery Boots is not recommended during pregnancy. This is because the effects of compression therapy on the body of pregnant women and foetuses have not been adequately studied. During pregnancy, the body undergoes many changes. These include increased blood volume and increased pressure on the veins. As the use of compression boots exerts additional pressure on the venous system, we recommend that you consult a doctor before using them during pregnancy. It should weigh all possible risks and benefits and make the best decision for the health of mother and child.

Although compression boots offer many advantages, you should not use them in the following cases:

  • Acute injuries such as muscle strains, ligament tears and bruises
  • Open wounds
  • Skin infections and irritations
  • Acute thrombosis or deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • Pregnancy
  • Cardiovascular diseases such as uncontrolled high blood pressure and heart failure

It is important to note that these are only general recommendations. If you suffer from one or more of the above mentioned points, please consult a doctor or therapist before using the K-Active® Recovery Boots 3. 0.

Cleaning is simple and uncomplicated. To keep your boots clean, we recommend wiping the leg cuffs with a damp cloth after each use. Avoid direct contact with water and detergents on the electronic components, as these may be damaged. Allow the recovery boots to dry well after cleaning and only then pack them in the storage bag and bag. For stubborn dirt, you can use mild soapy water. However, make sure that no moisture penetrates the control unit. Regular cleaning keeps your compression boots hygienic, so you can enjoy them for longer.
