Rutronik Stars Keltern win the “K-Active® TOP FOUR”
Due to the corona pandemic, the cup winner of the German women’s basketball season 2019/20 could only be determined on the weekend of October 17/18, 2020. K-Active® had the great honor of being the name sponsor of this “TOP FOUR” final tournament in Nördlingen, Bavaria.
High-class basketball in Nördlingen
With the Rutronik Stars Keltern, TSV 1880 Wasserburg, TK Hannover and the host as well as our cooperation partner, the XCYDE Angels Nördlingen, the “K-Active® TOP FOUR“ consisted of only top-class teams from the German Women’s Basketball League. One or the other start-up problem after the preparations with the newly assembled teams was noticeable in some cases, but the great desire and joy of high-class basketball after the Corona break was written on all the players’ faces.
Saturday started with the two semi-finals. In the first game, the Rutronik Stars Keltern quickly made it clear why they were considered tournament favorites by many spectators and in the end they won with 103:82 against TK Hannover. The second semi-final between the host XCYDE Angels Nördlingen and TSV 1880 Wasserburg was a real derby due to the relatively small spatial distance. It was also a balanced and exciting trial of strength until shortly before the end, which Wasserburg won in the end with 93:81.
After TK Hannover secured third place with an 86:79 against XCYDE Angels Nördlingen on the Sunday of the finals, the final game between the German record champions, TSV Wasserburg and the Rutronik Stars Keltern took place. At the break, the basketball players from Wasserburg were just ahead of the game, but in the end the players from Keltern turned the game around and, amid great jubilation, secured the cup victory with a 76:68.
Own regeneration and recovery room with recovery boots from K-Active® and NormaTec®
The K-Active® team not only acted as a name sponsor during the two days, but also set up their own regeneration and recovery room for the professional basketball players. So that all four teams could recover as quickly as possible within two days in all the high-class games, K-Active® provided the athletes with several recovery boots, including their own brand and devices from the well-known NormaTec® brand. A significantly faster recovery was possible with the popular compression devices. This method was so popular and helpful with the players that there was hardly any compression device left unused. The K-Active® Medical Team was available to the players and the respective therapists for wounds and more serious injuries and helped the basketball players, among other things, with the kinesiological tapes.
It was an all-round successful “K-Active® TOP FOUR”, which due to the pandemic could only be played in front of 300 spectators. It was therefore all the more gratifying that the Bavarian Rundfunk broadcast a report from the basketball tournament and the colleagues from Sportstotal broadcast the entire tournament via livestream.
A huge thank you goes to all the numerous helpers who organized the event excellently and did everything to ensure that it ran smoothly. Due to a great hygiene concept and strict rules, the “K-Active® TOP FOUR” could also be carried out safely during the corona pandemic and everyone involved was very happy.
