THE DEEP OSCILLATION

With its patented “DEEP OSCILLATION®” method, the German company PHYSIOMED® Elektromedizin AG has created a new milestone in therapy. The so-called “Deep Oscillation” is non-invasive and non-traumatic and is mainly used to accelerate healing and regeneration as well as to increase performance.

Deep Oscillation is a unique and patented therapy method. By using electrostatic attraction and friction, impulses are generated which pleasantly vibrate the treated tissue, exerting a deep biological effect. In contrast to mechanical forms of therapy, such as vibration, the DEEP OSCILLATION® effect occurs in the tissue itself and over the entire tissue depth (up to 8 cm deep!). It thus reaches the skin, conductive tissue, subcutaneous fat tissue, muscles, blood and lymph vessels.

Liquids flow in and between cells throughout our body. The more active this flow is, the better our body structures are supplied with the necessary substances or are cleaned of waste materials.

By using DEEP OSCILLATION®, the treated structures are set in motion, “shaken” so to speak. This activates the flow of extracellular fluids very effectively in order to optimize the supply and disposal of the cells.

For a better understanding, a comparison from everyday life: Ketchup often comes out of its bottle only a little or not at all. If you shake the bottle and its contents vigorously once, the ketchup becomes more liquid and runs out of the bottle more easily. This liquefaction process is called Tixotrophy.
You can imagine the effect of DEEP OSCILLATION® on our body in a similar way.

The vibrating structures also generate heat (through friction), which can further stimulate and optimize the metabolism.

The activation of receptors, above all the mechanoreceptors in the skin, also leads to the so-called “gate control” effect: The transmission of pain via the spinal cord is reduced, so the pain does not reach the brain or does not reach it completely. The pain reduction is automatically followed by the relaxation of the myofascial system, which in turn can improve the circulation of body fluids and the condition of the cells and structures.

Lymphedema
DEEP OSCILLATION® reduces the volume in primary and secondary lymphedema. The resulting reduction in tension reduces pain and at the same time provides an improvement in the condition of the tissue structures and their functions.
The Deep Oscillation is also being used more frequently and successfully for lipedema treatment. It also has fibrosis prophylactic and antifibrotic effects. Incipient fibrosis can be effectively treated.

Chronic pain conditions
In indications accompanied by chronic pain (e.g., fibromyalgia syndrome, Sudeck’s disease), DEEP OSCILLATION® reduces pain intensity. As a result, medication use often decreases as well.
The treatment promotes movement and counteracts muscle stiffness. Impairments of activities of daily life are reduced, which has a consecutive positive effect on symptoms of fatigue, anxiety and depression.

Mechanical trauma and overuse injuries
DEEP OSCILLATION® decreases edema and reduces pain after overuse injuries and trauma. This promotes pain-free self-mobilization and enables active movements at an early stage.
Athletes can thus take up active forms of therapy and training earlier or shorten the time to “return to play”. “Normal patients” enter activities of daily life and work earlier.

Pre- and postoperative therapy
Compared to conventional therapies, DEEP OSCILLATION® eliminates hematoma, swelling and edema much faster. The method can be used early on after trauma and then inhibits local inflammation and promotes wound healing processes. Pain is reduced and the quality of scarring is improved.
For this reason, DEEP OSCILLATION® is already regularly used in support of postoperative therapy, for example in traumatology, oncology and neurology. As the therapy procedure is extremely gentle, it is perfectly suited as a first-choice treatment, e.g., after endoprostheses, osteosyntheses, mastectomies or caesarean sections.

Secondary wound healing
DEEP OSCILLATION® is an efficient accompanying therapeutic measure for surgery related as well as diabetic wound healing disorders and secondary wound healing caused by edema. Unfortunately, it is often chosen as the last possible course of action.

Burns
In 2nd degree burns, the surrounding tissues can be treated with DEEP OSCILLATION® to achieve significantly faster and higher quality wound healing.

Neurorehabilitation
Rehabilitation after strokes can be supported with DEEP OSCILLATION®. In case of hemiplegia, the trophicity is improved and spasms in the affected areas are reduced. It is also used for lymphatic drainage, e.g., for decongestion in the head area.
Children with cerebral palsy or tetraplegia can be helped to reduce spasm. DEEP OSCILLATION® is also used very successfully to treat intestinal obstruction.

The Deep Oscillation improves blood circulation and lymph flow. This improves the trophicity and tension of the skin. Due to the increased circulation, active ingredients from sprays and creams can be absorbed much better by the skin.
After cosmetic surgery, DEEP OSCILLATION® can be used to accelerate wound healing and optimize scar formation.
In the case of liposection, the application of Deep Oscillation is suitable not only post-operatively, but also for the preparation of the affected tissue.
